Missoula County Search and Rescue is proud to announce that after many hours of training, member Ellie Cosgrove was certified as a Tracking/Trailing and Human Remains Detection Handler! Ellie began working on these certifications alongside Remi, SAR’s trusty K-9, in 2018.

She received her tracking certification from the North American Police Work Dog Association in June of 2019. In September, Ellie also acquired her “Human Remains Detection” certification from the International Police Work Dog Association.

Additionally, Ellie is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, Avalanche Rescue Technician and Swift Water Rescue Technician.

She continues to work with Remi towards a certification in avalanche rescue/recovery.

Ellie is also working and training with Abby, Missoula County’s other certified SAR Trailing, Human Remains Detection, and Avalanche Rescue/Recovery K9.

This incredible work was all done voluntarily to help assist in SAR callouts and better serve the people of Missoula County! Excellent work!
