The Minot Police Department and Starbucks Coffee Company are excited to announce we are partnering to host a Coffee with a Cop event at the 1340 South Broadway Starbucks location on Thursday August 1st, 9:00 am – 12:00 noon.
The Coffee with a Cop program was launched in Hawthorne, California in 2011 with Officers from the Hawthorne Police Department were looking for ways to more successfully interact with the citizens they served each day.
The Hawthorne Police Department hit upon a simple plan to break through the barriers that have been built over the years–a cup of coffee. Coffee with a Cop events are now held in all 50 states, and 9 countries, and is one of the most successful community oriented policing programs across the country.
The event is a very informal opportunity for residents to have conversations with area law enforcement officers about whatever they like, over a cup of coffee.
There are no specific agendas or topics; just conversations about what’s important to those who join in.
The Minot Police Department has joined several area businesses to host these events for nearly three years. Both the public and the officers have been consistently excited to participate.
Sometimes with longer sit-down conversations with many topics, and others just a quick hello and a smile at a drive-up window.
The Minot Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies share a strong and positive relationship with the community we serve. Still, we constantly look for ways to maintain and improve that relationship.
Coffee with a Cop events have been a simple, yet valuable way to successfully continue on that path.
