According to Lieutenant Cory Bailey Badge #739 on 05/22/19 at 0724 hours, the Helena Police Department received a report of a possible mountain lion sighting in the 1300 block of Last Chance.
At this time, Helena Police Officers, Animal Control Officer, and Fish and Game Officers are in the area.
There is no threat to the public and at this time, they have the mountain lion contained in an area where it is not a threat.
We ask that people stay out of the area while the Officers work on getting the mountain lion removed from the area.

A young male mountain lion was located on the property of North-Western energy at 1315 N Last Chance Gulch.
The lion was first observed by an employee in the bushes near an entrance to the main building. The lion was dispatched by Montana FWP and removed do to is location with the city.
Immobilizing and relocating mountain lions located in urban areas is a not safe/ feasible option so lethal means are used. The Cougar was killed (dispatched) as it was in human populace area and posed an extreme danger to the safety of humans.
