Billings woman Shirley Marie Padilla was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.   The Billings police department were sent by dispatch to a report of a woman that was laying on the ground near a fence in the area of 2nd Ave North and North 20th Street.   Officer Brown and Officer Fjetlan responded and made contact with the female victim.

According to the female victim she stated to Officer Brown that She thought her attacker's name was Shirley Campbell.  Billings Police Officer Fjetland started to search the area for a female suspect but did not find anyone who matched the descriptions that the victim stated.

Both Officers looked for any possible weapons in the area.    As they were searching the area, Officer Brown remembered that a home near the immediate area was a common occurrence for disturbances in the past, as he had been to that home.

Billings Police Officer Brown had dealt with a woman by the name of Shirley at that home.  Officer Brown ran a plate that was on a car parked in front of the house, and it came back registered to Shirley Marie Padilla.

As both Officer Brown and Officer Fjetland approached the home, they could hear multiple voices on the South side of the house outside.  Officers called Shirley by the name of which she responded to them.

At first, Shirley Padilla stated that the cuts and abrasions that were on two of her knuckles on her right hand got there by her cats.

Finally, Shirley Marie Padilla did tell Officer Brown and Officer Fjetland why she did it.

Shirley stated, " the (victim) stole her leather jacket about three years ago and never returned it.  Padilla admitted to assaulting the victim and stated " Yeah, I did it," and "go ahead, hook me up."    She stated that she did not use a weapon just her fists.

At the Hospital, Officers could not interview the victim as she had become lethargic and unable to respond.  Medical staff immediately took the female victim into the intensive unit as it was clear that the victim was now suffering from a brain bleed and had multiple facial fractures.

Shirley Marie Padilla left the victim laying on the ground without medical assistance and as far as Padilla knew, left the woman lying on the ground potentially dead  as far as she knew, laying on the ground from the severe beating. The victim who goes by the initials of G.S. was not dead but had been  severely beaten and was left laying on the ground as if  dead by Shirley Marie Padilla according to  Law Enforcement Officials.
