The Sad Effects Of Alcohol Ends Badly For A Billings Homeless Man Yesterday Morning

February 1, 2019

Montana News Disclaimer:  One of the most sacred principles in the American criminal justice system, holding that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. In other words, the prosecution must prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, each essential element of the crime charged.  Until then the defendant is considered innocent of the charges.

The sad effects of alcohol were clearly represented when a the 32-year-old man was taken into custody yesterday morning by Billings Police.

This all happened at about 7:30 a.m. when police responded to a break-in at a downtown beauty supply store.

At about the same time another call came in of a report of a man that was passed out with blood all over his body.

The man had what appeared to be a gun  laying next to him as he was lying in the entryway steps of the Jock West Law firm, across from the Billings Court House and kitty-corner from the Billings Police Station.

Billings Police were able to determine the alleged gun,  was nothing more than a kids BB gun.

The suspect had broken a window at the beauty supply store, cut himself in the process, stole items, left the business and passed out, prompting the police response.

The 32-year-old Billings man was a homeless man who had broken a window in an attempt to get inside of the beauty supply store, cutting himself in the process,  then the man left the beauty supply store and was so intoxicated that he passed out not from the original crime scene.

The suspect had broken a window at the beauty supply store, cut himself in the process, stole items, left the business and passed out not far from the break-in.

Below, are Tweets from Billings Police Lt. Wooley which are a bit vague in his description.  Why was the man charged with Assault with a weapon?  who did he assault?  the Beauty supply window?
