Missoula man, Troy A. Flatt was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and a PFMA. On June 10, 2018 Missoula Officers Griesse and Sgt. Odin was responding to a disturbance in progress. When both Officers arrived, that observed Troy Flatt on a bicycle. Troy Flatt got off of his bicycle and stated to the officers, "You're looking for me."
Troy sat down on the ground smoking a cigarette, and advised Officer Griesse that he and his girlfriend had just gotten into a heated argument, when she just snapped.
He stated to Officer Griesee that the argument turned violent and physical and that he punched his girlfriend in the shoulder. He stated that he and his girlfriend had dated for at least a year and a half, and of late, their arguments were getting worse.
Sgt. Odlin was inside talking to Flatt's girlfriend and she stated that Troy Flatt and she had gotten into an argument and that Troy just started to punch her in the right shoulder area.
She stated that it really hurt her. Troy then grabbed a knife and threatened her, stating, "I'll kill you, and I'll kill myself." Upon hearing this, she grabbed their child and shut herself and the child in the bedroom.
Officer Griesse advised Officer Odlin what he was told by Troy's girlfriend. Officer Odlin asked Troy about having a knife. Troy Flatt admitted that he had a steak knife and that was the only way that he could get her to listen.
Troy also stated that he was trying to control his girlfriend by pointing his knife and threatening to kill her.
