On Thursday May 31, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, the Minot Police Department, partnering with Broadway Bean and Bagel (1701 South Broadway), is proudly hosting a Coffee with a Cop event.
The Minot Police Department has participated in the past two annual National Coffee with a Cop day events held each October, and due to their success, we have hosted additional local Coffee with a Cop events in the city.
Coffee with a Cop is a law enforcement community-outreach program, which was started by the Hawthorne (California) Police Department in 2011 in hopes of easing tensions between the police and that community.
Noting the program’s success in Hawthorne and nearby communities, the US Department of Justice established the first national Coffee with a Cop event in 2016, encouraging law enforcement agencies nationwide to participate. The program has also expanded to all fifty states and expanded internationally to Canada, Europe, Australia and Africa.
This event is agenda free; no speeches or specific topics. Just informal conversations about what matters to community residents. This is a time for relaxed and approachable conversations focused on problem solving, all over a cup of coffee.
The Minot Police Department and the community we serve traditionally have a very cooperative relationship. We also continuously strive to build upon and improve that positive aspect of our community. This event has proven to be an excellent resource in that effort, we are excited to continue being part of this event, and look forward to meeting with more folks we serve, over a cup of coffee.
