According to Sergeant Scott Corad with the Billings Police Department, today' at approximately 7:41 am, officers were dispatched to the area of 26th Street West and Broadwater Avenue regarding reports of a crash involving 2 vehicles that took place at this location.
When officers and medical arrived on scene, they found a 29 year old female driver of one car to be severely hurt with multiple injuries. She was immediately transported to St Vincent's Hospital.
Initial reports indicate that the 29 year old female was on 26th Street West stopped northbound (2001 Toyota Camry) for the stop sign at Broadwater Ave.
Witnesses indicated that a full size truck pulling a work trailer was eastbound on Broadwater Ave and slowing down to turn right on 26th Street West to travel southbound. In the 2nd lane from the curb, a 70 year old female was traveling eastbound in a 2013 Ford Edge.
It is believed that the female driving the Camry could not see the Ford Edge and initiated a right turn onto Broadwater Ave to travel eastbound. A crash occurred with the main impact being the driver's side door of the Camry.
The driver of the Camry had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire department and immediately transported to St Vincent's hospital for serious injuries. The driver of the Edge was also transported to St Vincent's Hospital for minor injuries.
Billings Police Crash Team is on scene and Broadwater Avenue from 25th Street West to 27th Street West will be closed for a significant amount of time. Police Case Report Number: 18-30792
