The City of Minot has assumed management responsibility of the two downtown parking structures.
This month, Cypress Development, LLC, the developer and former management company for the parking structures, turned over operations for the Central and Renaissance parking structures to the City.
As part of the transition, the City invites the community to park in the structures free of charge for the next month. Current parking pass holders will be credited with one month of free parking, and the gates at both structures will remain open during the free month.
“We’re going to be making some adjustments as far as management of the structures goes,” said City Manager Tom Barry. “We felt this was a great time to open up the gates and invite everyone to try them out for a month.”
The month of free parking will extend into May as the City makes operational adjustments. Among the adjustments, the City will conduct a structural and conditional assessment of the two structures, in addition to performing clean-up work and making security improvements. Both structures will also be restriped later this spring or summer. New signage will also be installed.
