Billings Man Zachary Edward Belton Arrested And Charged With Aggravated Assault (2) Counts and Obstructing A Peace Officer

Billings man Zachary Edward Belton was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault which is a felony and count aggravated assault with any alternative to count one and count three as obstructing a peace officer .

 

according to records, on March 23rd 2018 at about 11 p.m. in the evening Billings police were dispatched to the address of 1425 Broadwater Avenue. According to dispatch records the call was for a physical disturbance between two individuals .

 

Billings police officer Romero and Officer Tyler Bishop responded. According to several witnesses, Zachary Belton became agitated over another person whether or not that individual would be eligible to serve in the military .

 

Belton suddenly punched the victim that goes by the initials N. E. In the face. N. E. was hit so hard in the face that his front teeth were knockout clear down to the roots and several substantial lacerations we're on the bottom of his lip where is bottom teeth punctured through his lip.

 

According to several people who observed the incident stated that Belton had opened up a bar tab and then left his debit card with the bar staff. One witness indicated that the name of the defendant was on the debit card so he did a Facebook search and found a picture of Belton on Facebook which confirmed that it was the same person who punched the victim.

 

According to other Witnesses, the victim was not showing any aggression towards Belton prior to being punched in the face .

 

Belton along with two of his friends who were with him, took off immediately following the assault. According to one witness , the altercation caused the victim to be shoved into her when he was punched by Belton, knocking her off her Bar stool. That witness told Officers she was able to recover the victims tooth which she found on laying on the floor near her.

 

This case is being prosecuted by Sara Lee Hyde who is a Deputy County attorney . The case number is CR 2018 - 763 and will be heard in front of Judge Jeanne Walker. The police report number is 18 - 20282 the arraignment was held at the Billings Justice Court.
