The Helena Police Department and the Capital High School Resource Officer has been made aware late yesterday afternoon that a social media posting had been found that has been made by a student that had Officials worried when they first were told of the postings. Some liberal anti gun people seemed to be disturbed in the wake of recent events in Florida and last week’s threats in Darby Montana. But in this case they jumped the gun.
According to the School District the student in question was actually only talking about his ability to own a gun and kept referring to the 2nd Amendment which is his right to free speech and to own a gun. People post on you tube and other social media sites all the time talking about their guns and even show them shooting their guns as a public demonstration. Is that illegal? No it is not.
The Helena Police Department stated that the school district and the police department are aware of the social media posting and have spoken with the 18 yr old student and others surrounding the incident.
The 18-year-old student showed a picture of hand gun but did not make any threats to any person or group of people. Instead he was exercising his right to freedom of speech regarding his 2nd Amendment rights.
According to the Helena police department at this point, Law Enforcement does not believe there is a threat to the school, students or others; there have been no specific threats made by this student. The anti-gun hysteria is out of control.
The Helena Police stated that they have referred this incident to the Lewis and Clark County Attorney’s Office for consideration of any possible charges. but charges will not likely be filed.
