Billings, Montana --//MNA Press//-- According to the Billings fire department, Sunday, Feb 18, 2018 at about 10:12 p.m. Billings Fire Department responded to the location of 122 North 12th Street in Billings .
A fire was reported in the business called ‘Billings Bronze, Inc.,
No one was in the building at the time of the fire according to officials.
The fire caused extensive damage and literally gutted the building out. The building was insured according to the owners.
The Billings Firemen had a problem with their suppression efforts due to the extreme cold weather temperatures.
At the time of this article being published no cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Fire crew stayed all night long to monitor and eliminate hot spots.
This morning, the Billings Police Crime truck arrived at the fire scene.
No further details are available as the investigators are investigating the fire as to the examination of the origin of the fire is still being pursued.
The Billings Bronze has been in business for almost 30 years and the foundry has produced artwork that has been shipped all over the world.
Several Quonset huts are on the property, but the fire was located in the business office and the main part of the foundry. The structure is a 100% a loss for the foundry that was founded back in 1989.
5:00 p.m. UPDATE:
According to the Billings Fire Department, the onsite fire investigation of the structure fire that occurred last night is complete. The investigation was led by the Billings Fire Department with assistance from the Montana State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
At this time, the cause of the fire is classified as accidental. It appears that an electrical failure in a piece of foundry equipment likely caused the fire. The building and most of the contents sustained severe damage. A dollar estimate on the damages will likely exceed $450,000.00.
