Montana News Disclaimer:  One of the most sacred principles in the American criminal justice system, holding that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty. In other words, the prosecution must prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, each essential element of the crime charged.  Until then the defendant is considered innocent of the charges.

According to  a press release, Sergeant Shane Winden of the Billings Police Department, stated that on 2/4/18 at approx. 0330 hrs, police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 3500 blk of 2nd Ave S.  A frantic female was reporting that a male was outside her home attempting to break in.

It was later learned that the suspect was the female’s ex-boyfriend who had shown up at the residence and was now breaking in through the front door.

The suspect was identified to be 19 yr old Gered Archuleta.  The female was in the residence with her grandmother and her 4 children ranging in ages 1yr to 10 yrs old.  While police were en-route, Archuleta broke through the front door, knocking the 30 yr old female to the ground.

The female had armed herself with a knife and stabbed Archuleta in the shoulder and back before he retreated out of the residence.  Archuleta fled to another nearby residence where the home owners called police after seeing Archuleta bleeding from his wounds.

Archuleta was transported to the Billings Clinic by AMR where he received medical treatment for his wounds.  He was then taken to the Yellowstone County Detention Facility where he was remanded into custody on 1 count of Aggravated Burglary (felony) and 1 count of Partner or Family Member Assault (misdemeanor).   Police report number is 18-008791
