Billings Female Fought Off Purse Snatcher And Sustained Only Minor Injuries

According to Sergeant Matt Lennick of the Billings Police Department, yesterday, October 30, 2017 at approximately 1821 hours the Billings Police Department responded to a robbery report in the area of 7th Avenue North and North 29th Street. 


Police Officers arrived on the scene to find a female victim, the female had been in the parking lot near this intersection when an unknown male approached her and attempted to take snatch her purse from her, which was around her shoulder and neck. 


The female victim hung on to the purse and did not let the male take her purse.


The female victim was thrown to the ground in the struggle and sustained just minor injuries. 


The suspect was unable to free the victim’s purse and fled the area on foot. 


Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect at this time.  The victim was treated at a local hospital.  The investigation is ongoing and the case number is 17-79899
