According to Sgt Becker, on 10/9/17 at approximately 0130 hours Billings Police Officers were dispatched to the report of an injury accident in the 2900 block of Montana Avenue.
A passerby had come across a Honda passenger car that appeared to have collided with a parked car. The passerby stopped to investigate and an unconscious 21 year old Billings female was located in the driver’s seat.
The passerby and another citizen called into 911 and removed the female from the vehicle. The female wasn’t breathing and they began taking lifesaving steps until medical personnel arrived. She was taken to a local hospital via ambulance for life threatening injuries.
The vehicle seemed to have been travelling eastbound on Montana Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck a cement planter on the north side of Montana Avenue.
This caused the vehicle to lose control where it spun and struck a parked car. It was determined that the female was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Open alcohol containers were observed in plain view inside the vehicle and alcohol is possibly a factor in the accident.
A blood sample from the female will be analyzed for alcohol concentration. One citizen that helped the female reportedly heard the crash, and the time from the crash until it was called in is considered to be no more than a few minutes at most.
The BPD crash investigation team was called out to examine the scene and Montana Avenue is closed from North 30th Street to North 28th Street for the next few hours.
All, Montana Avenue has been re-opened to all traffic in regards to the accident last night.
