Billings Man Attempts Suicide By Pouring Gasoline On Himself: Billings Police Were Able To Get The Man Help



Incident Location: 700 Block of S.28th
According to Sergeant Nate West of the Billings Police Department, On September 5th, 2017, an Animal Control Officer contacted dispatch advising there was a male in the 700 block of S. 28th breaking windows out of a vehicle.
Nearby a Billings police officer was in the area and was able to respond quickly to the incident .
When the officer arrived on scene, he observed a 57-year-old male in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
The male was pouring gasoline on himself, and threatened to light himself on fire while holding a lighter.
Officers were able to negotiate with the male, talking him out of the vehile. The Billings fire department arrived on the scene and performed decontamination procedures on the male. AMR transported the male to Billings Clinic with minor injuries.
