According to Sgt. Bret Becker of the Billings Police Department, on 7/31/17 at approximately 2307 hours Billings Police Officers were dispatched to the report of a male that appeared to had been shot and was in need of medical help in the 900 block of Maywood Drive.
Billings Police Officers responded and located the male that was shot that was a 33 year old Billings resident.
The male had summoned medical assistance, Once Police arrived they began gathering information.
The male victim had a single gunshot wound to the torso.
The person suspected of the shooting was located nearby at a residence in the area of Maywood Drive and Waverly Drive.
Officers detained this person, a 27-year -old Billings resident, along with several other persons at the residence.
A stolen firearm was located at the scene that was determined to the weapon used in the shooting.
Subsequent investigation determined that there was a struggle over the firearm, between the two males, who were personal acquaintances.
The 33 year old male was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition. At this time no charges have been formally filed and the Billings Police detective division is conducting the follow-up examination of the
