According to Lt. Brett Petty, SSD Commander of the Helena Police Department, a HPD Officer was driving in the area of Nature Park and observed a fire within the park.  Shortly after the HPD Officer notified Dispatch of the fire, numerous 911 calls came into the Dispatch Center reporting the same fire.

Helena Fire responded and was able to contain the fire.  HPD Officers along with LCSO Deputies provided assistance with traffic control as well as not allowing people into where the fire was.

It is unknown on the origin of the fire.  At this time, it cannot be determined whether the fire was started by a human or nature.  The Helena Interagency Fire Investigation Team (HIFIT) has been called to the scene and will conduct an investigation into what caused the fire.

There have been no reported injuries to Law Enforcement at this time.  Also, I do not know how much of the area was burned or if any damage was sustained to anything other than the landscape of the park.   At this time this is all the information  in regards to the fire.
