Billings Woman Leaves Car Unlocked While Warming Up Engine: Car Gets Stolen by Timothy Christopher Payne

Billings man Timothy Christopher Payne was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  According to Billings Police Officer Schultz on December 15, 2016   Victim, H.R., stated that her 2010 Nissan Altima, valued in excess of $1,500.00  H.R. stated that her car was stolen from area on Ave C.  


According to the victim, H.R. she went outside to start her car at about 11:55 a.m. and then let it run for a bit until the vehicle warmed up while she went back into the house.  


10 to 15 minutes later she looked outside and her vehicle was gone.


Billings Police Officer Newsome responded to the address of 2419 11th Ave north for a man that was acting suspicious inside a vehicle. 


Once Officer Newsome arrived on the scene, the driver in the vehicle was appearing to be sleeping.  The car was the Nissan Altima that had been stolen earlier that morning from H.R., the female victim.
