North Dakota Man Arrested For Accidental Discharge of Firearm While He Was Cleaning It In His Own Home, Stray Bullet Nearly Killed Neighbor

TYPE OF INCIDENT: Reckless Endangerment
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 1325 27th St. SE
NAME: Russell W. Brandt GENDER: M AGE: 56 ADDRESS: Minot

On March 3, 2017 at 2030 Minot Police Officers responded to #905 Western Village to investigate the report of a shot being fired and a bullet entering a neighboring residence.

 

The Address of the incident was 1325 27th St SE in Minot North Dakota.

 

The investigation revealed Russell Brandt discharged his handgun while handling it inside his residence.  Apparently Brandt was cleaning his gun.

 

The bullet exited through his trailer wall and into a neighboring trailer, nearly striking a person inside that residence.

 

Brandt was placed under arrest for Reckless Endangerment (class C Felony). He was transported to the Ward County Jail.
