73-Year-Old Man Shoots At Billings Police; Police Say Possible Mental Condition Contributing Factor

 On the above date at the listed location Billings Police Officers responded to a residential alarm at 1202 8th West street.

 

While checking the residence, the 73-year-old male home owner, fired a handgun toward the officers. The scene was locked down, and attempts were made to contact the home owner.

 

Initial attempts to contact the homeowner were not successful, but a relative was contacted in regards to the male. Police were advised of a possible mental condition, which could be a contributing factor to the event.

 

A police negotiator was ultimately able to speak with the male, and he agreed to exit the house.  The male was taken into protective custody at about 2330 hours, and transported for a mental health evaluation.    No parties were injured during the call.
