Update On Yellowstone River Search Efforts

December 21, 2016

According to UnderSheriff Charles "Chip" Kem,  the search efforts for the individual believed to have fallen into the Yellowstone River near Columbus resumed this morning.

Two Bear Air out of Kalispell flew a Flathead County deputy and their underwater remote controlled camera to Columbus to aid in the search.

The area under the ice shelf was searched to the extent that conditions allowed.  However, there were no signs of the missing individual.

The helicopter also flew the river downstream with a spotter, but did not locate anything.  We will continue to monitor the ice flow and will resume search efforts again when conditions are favorable.
