Minot N.D --- City of Minot commuters may now take advantage of another completed street improvement project in southwest Minot. This week, 37th Avenue Southwest, from 16th Street to 30th Street Southwest, opened to through traffic. All major roadwork is completed, with only cosmetic and punch list items remaining. Crews will finish lane striping and joint sealing through Friday afternoon.
The 37th Avenue expansion project is a $6.6 million dollar improvement to a one mile stretch of road. The project converted a two- lane asphalt rural road to a five lane concrete urban street, complete with a ten foot wide shared use walking path. The contractor broke ground in April and maintained the expected pace to allow the project to be completed in the planned timeframe.
“On a local scale, this was a very significant project for the City, in terms of dollars, construction materials and effort” says Assistant City Engineer, Jacqueline DeMent. “This is a terrific addition to the transportation network and will prove valuable as the City continues to grow in southwest Minot”.
