Wyoming and Colorado Law Enforcement Will Show Zero Tolerance
This Saturday, October 1st 2016, marks the 107th meeting in the “Border War”. The game between the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University will be televised and is one of the oldest rivalries in college football. Saturday will be one of the busiest travel days on US Highway 287 and Interstate 25, as fans travel to Ft. Collins for a late 8:45 PM kick off at CSU’s Hughes Stadium.

Highway 287 is 65 miles of state highway that connects Ft. Collins and Laramie and I-25 is 40 miles of interstate highway that connects Cheyenne and Ft. Collins. On these highways, Wyoming and Colorado law enforcement agencies will be teaming up as part of a multi-state, multi-agency impaired driving enforcement operation.

Law enforcement agencies will also coordinate impaired driving enforcement efforts in Albany County, Laramie County and Larimer County Colorado. “It’s a late night game but expect to see officers, deputies and troopers out in force all day and all night”, said Assistant Chief Robert Terry of the Laramie Police Department. “Expect zero tolerance for impaired driving” added Chief Mike Samp of the University of Wyoming Police.

Agencies involved in Wyoming, include the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Laramie Police Department, Albany County Sheriff’s Office, University of Wyoming Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and the Cheyenne Police Department. Agencies involved in Colorado include the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Collins Police Department, Loveland Police Department, CSU Police Department and the Colorado State Patrol.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol there have been 87 fatalities on Wyoming roads in 2016. In August alone there were 26 fatalities on Wyoming roads.
