Child Pinned Under Vehicle; Billings Police And By Standers Work Together To Help Child Until EMS Arrived

Billings Police responded to a call at the Santa Fe Arms apartments in reference to an injury accident.

 

According to Dispatch logs,  a child had been run over and was pinned under a vehicle.

 

Once Billings Police arrived on the scene, several people were found trying to assist a 9 year old boy that was pinned  under an SUV in the parking lot of the apartments.

 

By standers and BPD officers assisted the child until EMS arrived on scene.

Billings Police  Officers were told by witnesses that the child had been riding his bike in the area with other children. The child had been riding under a carport when the SUV pulled into the parking to park.

 

According to witnesses the child rode his bike out from under the car port and in front of the SUV.

 

The driver of the SUV did not see the child and the vehicle hit the child and partially ran over him. The child was rushed to the hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his injuries. At the time of this report the child's condition was reported as serious but he is expected to recover.

 

Hosptial authorities would not release the condition of the child to the media, but an inside  Media source for the Montana News  indicated that the child was expected to recover and that family members were at the child's beside.   The child was reported to have some broken bones and internal damage according to the MNA  Medical source who asked to remain anonymous.   The Bilings Police  investigators were activated to investigate the accident.

 

At this time their is no further information available at this time according to Sgt. Clyde Reid of the Billings Police Department.  The incident took place at 2207 Central Ave at 1858 hours on 8-26-2016
