$5 Million Dollar Property Loss Due To Fire At 2665 South 56th Street West In Billings

According to Fire Marshal Mike Spini,
DAMAGE DESCRIPTION: The fire and subsequent explosions caused extreme damage to the main building and its contents as well as three nearby modular buildings. Numerous pieces of construction equipment located around the exterior of the building were damaged or destroyed. The main building was three stories high and primarily used for construction storage and some manufacturing. The main building and modular buildings are considered a total loss.


ESTIMATED PROPERTY AND CONTENT LOSS: $ 5,000,000.00

FIRE CAUSE: Under Investigation


ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This fire burned extremely hot and was difficult to extinguish due to the volatile contents stored in the building and the lack of water supply in this area.

 

Fire crews shuttled water from nearby dry-hydrant systems and eventually from a city fire hydrant on Zoo Drive. The cause of the fire is under investigation and will remain that way for days and possibly weeks to come.

 

The fire department and sheriff’s department will work with private insurance investigators and their engineers to determine the origin and cause of this fire. Additional media updates will be sent out as information is available.
