57-year-old Arthur Halks, a male inmate at the Missoula County Detention Facility, died over the weekend.
On 07/03/16, at approximately 12:15 pm, detention officers were serving lunch when they found Mr. Halks unresponsive in his bunk and began performing CPR.
Medical staff within the detention facility also assisted in life-saving efforts.
EMS arrived and transported Mr. Halks to St. Patrick hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Cause and manner of death is still being investigated, but it appears to be medically related.
Since this was an in-custody death, per procedure, it was requested that the Missoula Police Department conduct an investigation and that the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office perform coroner duties.
