According to Sergeant Mitch Hart A disturbance case file# 16-43693 on July 6, 2016 at approximately 1229 hours.
Billings Police Officers were dispatched to a roll-over accident in the 2900 block of King Avenue West.
Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and rerouted traffic off of the eastbound lanes of King Avenue West. Further investigation revealed a white GEO Tracker was stopped eastbound in the inside lane alongside a black Dodge Pickup awaiting traffic which was backed up to this location.
A Billings resident identified as an 84 year old male, operating a newer model GMC Terrain stated he did not see the traffic lanes stopped ahead of him and continued eastbound between the GEO Tracker and the Dodge Pickup striking the GEO Tracker causing his GMC Terrian to roll onto the passenger side of his vehicle coming to rest in the 2900 block of King Ave East.
The 84 year old male was trapped in his vehicle but was conscious and breathing with non-life threatening injuries. The male was transported to Billings Clinic. The GEO Tracker sustained damage to the passenger rear and was towed from the scene.
The Dodge Pickup was not struck during the incident. Eastbound traffic lanes of King Ave West was shut down for approximately one hour while the scene was investigated.
