Not only was Sgt Brewer in trouble with the Billings Police Department which ultimately caused him to resign voluntarily, The State Public Defender's Office has two cases "Giglio" and 'Brady" that they are defending in Court.
The State Public Defenders office is seeking to get the personnel file of formerly Sgt. Brewer. The Public Defenders office is of the belief that Sgt Brewer's notes and information that he placed in the arrest files that dealt with "Giglio" and "Brady is fraudulent.
According to a source within the PD and confirmed with a source within the City of Billings, Public Defender Clark Mathews of the Major Crime Unit, is wanting to be able to impeach any information or any testimony that Sgt. Brewer may have provided as he basically made up false information according to a Montana News Media sources.
The records request that the State Public Defender's Office made regarding Sgt. Matt Brewer has been denied along with the Media request that the Montana News filed regarding Sgt. Matt Brewer.
Instead, Sgt. Matt Brewer's personnel file has been sent to the County Attorney's office for the submission to the Court for proper determination of what may or may not be used and released to the Public Defenders, and also to the Media.
Sgt. Matt Brewer has recently resigned from the department, but sources and people that are close to Sgt. Matt Brewer are concerned for him.
With the Public Defenders after his personnel file for the purpose of impeachment of any of his testimony in court, shows that former Sgt. Matt Brewer may have been coming apart at the seams prior to his sudden resignation from the Billings Police Department
